#THE100DAYPROJECT is a global art project.
I first drew Grace in January 2017. She was inspired by a postcard that was given to me by a dear friend many years ago with an image from Japanese Artist Yoshitomo Nara.
I drew Grace when I couldn't find words to express how I felt when I received a painting from my friend Tammi Salas. She was grieving the loss of her friend who had just passed away and I was grieving the loss of my friend who had given me the postcard. I was also feeling so full of gratitude and wonder that I was sober and somehow that journey had lead to making this new friend, who I was now exchanging art with. Hence the title of my first Grace - Gratitude, Grief and Wonder.
I have been drawing Grace in many different incarnations since then - on various surfaces, in meetings, on the tram, when I’m writing and I’m stuck, when I’m scared, when I’m happy. She has become my secret best friend.
100 Days of Grace Day #99
100 Days of Grace Day #99
To all of my people still suffering - you’re almost there
Almost there
We surrender every time we say fuck it
Instead of surrendering to that which we are addicted
Why don't we try surrendering to freedom?
Surrender to the truth that we can go on
But we no longer want to, not like this
And there is a way out.
Come close
Keep coming back
Just keep going
You can do that
Drink freedom
Every moment you get
Build freedom
Breath by breath⠀⠀
And don't give up⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not yet
You're almost there.
